The Cluster ‘Migration, Mobility, Borders in and beyond Europe’ of the Field of Excellence ‘Dimensions of Europe’ invites you to a special occasion:
The renowned activist, journalist and writer Behrouz Boochani, who not only received important literary awards for his book ‘No Friends but Mountains: Writings from the Manus Prison’, but also made him a prominent voice of and for refugees, will visit Graz from May 29th-June 5th 2024. He wrote the book via Whatsupp text messages during his imprisonment on Manus Island, an offshore processing centre for refugees. The book is an important document for Australia's dehumanising offshore practice, which is now being aspired also by Italy, the UK, Denmark and other EU countries. The book also contains innovative theoretical concepts against the current encampment logic in asylum policies.
