Marta Zorko is an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Political Science, University of Zagreb, where she teaches Political Geography and Geopolitics, Contemporary Geopolitical Issues, Migrations and Security, and Geopolitics of Strategic Resources on different levels and institutions. During the virtual fellowship (due to the pandemic) in the Field of Excellence “Dimensions of Europeanization” in winter semester 2020/21 her research aims to define common border practice in integrated and not yet integrated parts of SEE and their exceptions, in order to underline concepts of good practice as an opposite to security omissions and its potential consequences. The main goal is to highlight the connections between border practices, used mechanisms for border crossings, and perspectives on border imaginations of Europeanization in the region of South East Europe.

Zorko holds a PhD. in the area of International Relations and National Security with a thesis focusing on open border issues of Croatia at Zagreb University. Her area of interest is focused on Border Studies both from the perspective of border formation and border management. She has served as Vice Dean, Graduate Chair for MA in Political Science, Deputy Graduate Chair for MA in Security Studies, is still serving as Faculty representative in The Council for Military Studies as well as Head of the Department for International Relations and Security Studies at Faculty of Political Science, University od Zagreb. She is Member of Association for Borderland Studies and Member of International Political Science Association (Board Member of Research Comittee 15: Political and Cultural Geography).
