The project explores the heterodox traditions of Southeastern Europe, broadly understood to include the under-examined intersections of lay religiosity, heresy, and pagan remnants, within a larger setting that encompasses conceptual, situational, and geographic scenery. The wider approach of global religious history serves as an overarching theoretical framework, integrating the aspect of gender studies, which is particularly well tailored for the proposed project.
